What is Intro to Cooking?
Hearty Little Kitchen’s Intro to Cooking was created by Emma Swan, primary school teacher and founder of Hearty Little Kitchen.
It is a beginner’s course designed for kids, tweens, teens and young adults to build their confidence, knowledge and skills in the kitchen. These budding home-cooks will learn:
kitchen safety
different ways to prepare vegetables
different ways to cook vegetables
four different ways to cook eggs
three different ways to cook a chicken breast
baking skills within a basic muffin recipe
PLUS access to a variety of never before seen, HLK original, simple recipes that use the skills taught in the video demonstrations.

Why did we create Intro to Cooking ?
I believe that if you can master the basics in the kitchen, there isn’t much you can’t do!
Knowing how to cook a delicious snack or meal for yourself, family or friends is one of the most rewarding things you can do! Not only is it delicious, you also know exactly what has gone into your food. And the best part? The feeling of pride and accomplishment you get from enjoying something that was made by YOU! We want kids, tweens, teens and young adults from far and wide to experience this, and hopefully kickstart a love and appreciation for home-cooked food.
