Ciao Bella Pizza

I lived in Italy for a few months some years back. The country is magical - delicious food, beautiful scenery, incredible history and a beautiful language (to name a few)… One of the things I loved eating most was pizza. There is no pizza quite like eating pizza in Italy - the ingredients are few, yet fresh which makes for a journey my tastebuds could go on over and over again (and believe me, when I lived there… they did!). This pizza is my take on doing something simply, yet deliciously. Bon appétit!

Makes 1 large pizza

Ingredients

1 large pizza base

2 tbsp pizza sauce

170g mozzarella

1 tomato

50g prosciutto

20g black olives

1 sprig basil

Method

  1. Preheat the oven (or BBQ) to 200˚C.

  2. Prepare your ingredients: dice the tomato, shred the prosciutto, slice the mozzarella, slice the olives.

  3. Spread the pizza sauce over the base. Make sure you spread it right to the edge.

  4. Sprinkle the mozzarella over the pizza sauce. Top with a scattering of tomato, prosciutto and olives. Top with the basil leaves.

  5. Place in the oven to bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. Enjoy! I like to serve mine best with some spinach and rocket leaves.

NOTES: If you don’t like olives, you can leave these out.
